Abstract

Issue tracking systems are a means of communication for software developers, where some of the issues are about architectural design decisions. This project is focused on two types of design decisions, structural design decisions and technology design decisions. Using a self-developed program to gather issues about technology design decisions and by using a set of issues about structural design decisions, we are able to annotate the architectural knowledge concepts that are used inside the decisions. This step is followed by an extensive comparison of the architectural knowledge usage in the two issue types. This project contributes to both knowledge exploration, by giving insight in the knowledge usage, and knowledge capturing, by providing data sets that can be used for e.g. machine learning.
