Abstract
At this moment, a lot of research is going on regarding energy consumption. Many of these researches focus on systems to reduce the consumption automatically. This thesis will investigate something new, reducing energy consumption by giving people insight in their own energy consumption. In this thesis we will aim at the human aspect regarding energy consumption. The literature research will aim at current energy consumption reduction methods and at how to enforce the competition feeling between people. Based on these results a dashboard is build that is accessible by the test group. This test group consists of five employees of the University of Groningen, who made their office available for our experiment. Preliminary results show that our application could work. However, we cannot give any well founded conclusion since we were not able to gather enough data because of the time constraints of this project. In the future more research should be done to get enough data to give any real conclusions.
