Abstract

When we humans play games or interact with other people in our daily lives, we often make use of theory of mind. In a previous study we have seen that it seems beneficial to use theory of mind when playing the game of Limited Bidding (De Weerd, Verbrugge, and Verheij, 2013). Since the theory of mind in this previous study made use of a perfect memory, we wanted to see if theory of mind would also be beneficial when using a more human-like memory using computational cognitive models. The use of these computational cognitive models in this research seem to indicate that not only would it be useful to use ToM in a theoretical environment where the models/agents have unlimited memory, but that it would also be useful when limited to a more human-like memory.
