Abstract

In modern business environment, employees are one of the crucial factors to a company. Treating laborers fairly is therefore one of the main objectives for corporations to succeed and to maintain competitive. Equity among workers can be obtained by making use of the load-balancing procedure. This research develops a metaheuristic algorithm for vehicle routing problems which finds the sub-optimal routing of the goods from origin-depot to destination-depot in order to minimize the total distance traveled and ensuring that driver workloads should average out as evenly as possible. To do so, eight different simulations are established using the complete programming environment MATLAB®. A weight factor, which determines the importance of the two objective functions at every scenario, will be introduced in the model too. The findings of these simulations exhibit that the suggested metaheuristic algorithm operates well to the eight cases. Afterwards, the sub-optimal routes are compared to one another in terms of delivery costs. To the best of my knowledge, this is one of the few researches and algorithms proposed for a problem which explicitly addresses artificially balanced routes.
