Abstract

In this research the self-assembly of 1,3,5-tris(carboxymethoxy)benzene (TCMB) on graphite was studied. For this purpose a scanning tunneling microscope has been used at the solid-liquid interface. The goal of the research was to image a self-assembled monolayer which would change its structure dependent on the applied bias voltage. To achieve this TCMB has been dissolved in the following liquids: nonanoic acid, octyl benzene, an ethanol and toluene mixture,
