Abstract

In 1993 at the University of Eindhoven, as part of a Ph.D. thesis, research was done on how sound is produced in a flue organ. On this very moment, at the University of Eindhoven as well, research is done on the behavior of less viscous lows that leave a square-edged nozzle. Using a computer rogram, a simulation of the behavior of less viscous flows was done. This research is done to get a clearer view on how the human vocal cords work. People, who as a result of larynxcancer, do not have their vocal cords anymore, can only speak by burping up air and using 'electronic' vocal cords. These people are much helped by this research. The aim of this master thesis is to validate the numerical results of the computer program, developed in Eindhoven. However, because the Ph.D. thesis takes up more time than this master thesis, we will only be able to validate the results of our program with experimental results.
