Abstract
Biodiversity is considered to be an important factor in the maintenance of stability of biological systems. Higher biodiversity leads to a more stable ecosystem. However, t here are contradictory opinions on the subject. Different factors may lead to stability loss. The very same factors almost always also cause loss of species diversity. Loss of ecosystem stability seems to be related to loss of biodiversity. For restoration of ecosystem stability the ability of reintroduction of species is needed. And to prevent the los of stability, resilience may be improved by increasing genetic diversity of species. onsidering that higher biodiversity is better for stability the possibility of nonnative species to increase ecosystem stability needs to be explored.
