Abstract
Based on a thorough robotics literature research and a detailed description of the FCC (including the related operations), the mission and operational requirements of the PIMIEbot-system have been determined. Based on these requirements a functional and physical architecture has been defined. The novelty of the PIMIEbot system is its capability of executing multiple kinds of operations at the FCC by making use of fit- for-purpose robots consisting of robotic building blocks - i.e. different kind of locomotion systems, sensors and tools. All the specific robotic buildings blocks are easily stored at a dedicated robotic warehouse. Based on a specific work- order, the fit-for-purpose PIMIEbot is composed such that the exact operation can be executed. From that perspective, the PIMIEbot is not just one specific robot, but can be seen as a comprehensive, multi-applicable robotic concept.
