Abstract

The Ocean Grazer is a novel concept for extracting and storing ocean energy. The primary power generation system is based on a wave energy converter, characterized by its adaptability to different wave profiles (varying in length and height). To ensure this adaptability is achieved an efficient transmission system is necessary, coupling a floater to the underlying pump mechanism. This thesis describes the research and process behind the design of such a system. Following a set of design criteria a design model is applied to generate a set of possible systems, after which one is further developed into a concrete system. The research product, a feasible design adhering to all criteria, adds to the proof of concept of the overarching pump system.
