Abstract
In this project we studied the mathematical models that are present at the university of Groningen. We located the models using an inventory made by Irene Polo Blanco and Lotte van der Zalm. We studied the mathematical background of some of these models: we investigated the background of Dupin cyclides and of caustics. Dupin cyclides can be defined in various ways. We explored a classical definition given by Dupin himself and we worked out some examples. For caustics in two dimensions, we have found a nice method on how to obtain an equation for them: Cayley's method. We explained how this method works and gave an example. Then we discussed the three dimensional case.
