Abstract
In the last decades, there has been an increase in awareness and need for green energy. A promising source of green energy is wave energy, which can be extracted with a device commonly known as a wave energy converter (WEC). This paper describes the optimal turbine within the wave energy converter: Ocean Grazer. In the context of the Ocean Grazer, the hydraulic head and flow are varying variables. The behaviour of the turbine’s efficiency is given in relation to these parameters. Thereafter, it is examined how using multiple turbines influences the performance and costs. Finally, the manufacturing costs regarding the different turbines are investigated and a short introduction in the dimensions of the penstock is given.
