Abstract
This document reports the process of building VeLight, a serious gaming application built on the zSpace device, with the aim of improving anatomy education for medical students. Whereas traditional methods like text books and 2D screens offer a flat, non-interactive experience, the zSpace offers excellent 3D depth perception through headtracked 3D glasses, in which students can interact with objects through a stylus. Using these characteristics, a puzzle game can be developed where the pieces are body parts and students have to assemble them in their correct position. This offers an interactive, depth perceptive learning experience. This report elaborates on the user requirements, software design and implementation of the VeLight application. It also describes the results of the first user tests. The report concludes with a discussion of the future possibilities of the application.
