Abstract
Driven by the great potential of ocean energy resources, there is currently a development of novel ocean energy converters at the University of Groningen developed within the context of a renewable energy platform termed the Ocean Grazer. There are, however, still many technological unknowns within the project. One of them is the lack of comparable hydrodynamic results of the main power-take-off system of the Ocean Grazer termed the multi-pump multi-piston power-take-off (MP2PTO) system, which is powered by an array of floaters, floater blanket, whose previously developed time domain model takes too much computational time. A frequency domain model, which would perform the analysis with respect to frequency, would be able to solve the problem much more efficiently. Therefore, the aim for this thesis is to build up a frequency domain model to simulate the hydrodynamics of the floater blanket with high efficiency and high accuracy for engineering purposes.
