Abstract
Nowadays, the energy mix in the world is changing. Due to an increased environmental awareness in the world, the usage of traditional fossil fuels is decreasing. The world turns to renewable energy sources to fulfill the energy demand. This trend is emerging, as consumers are today able to both produce and consume electricity, making them prosumers. This however, has as a consequence that the grid is turning towards a bidirectional electricity grid, in which the electricity is generated decentralized. Managing this grid leads to several obstacles. This was one of the reasons several companies in the Netherlands, founded the USEF foundation.
