CATO SMS is a contract research organization that conducts clinical studies on behalf of biomedical and biotechnological companies and offers drug development advice. In the context of the recent outbreak of important achievements that generated great excitement within the hematological community, CATO SMS has the objective of developing new strategies in order to implement the current leading hematological anti-tumor therapies into their oncology portfolio. Analysing the biological background of blood cancer indications allowed me to understand how the therapies landscape evolved in the past five years together with their scientific rationale and mode of action. Highlighting current trends in therapies was a fundamental step in order to anticipate potential future directions for blood cancer treatments. Finally, considering CATO SMS previous experience, the enterprise organizational design, core principles and strategies, and the macroenvironmental factors that influence the company’s ambition to invest in this project, allowed me to drive the final conclusions. The advice addressed to CATO SMS comprises of an evaluation of the intrinsic challenges of hematological studies in terms of field competition, patients access, data management and trials strategic design. It also highlights the advantages and potential opportunities for investing in this project.
