Abstract
Non-intrusive in nature, Single Molecule Spectroscopy (SMS) is most often applied to conjugated polymer chains which are able to absorb and emit light. By removing the effect of ensemble averaging present in bulk/solution spectroscopy experiments, one can obtain an accurate description of not only the electronic transitions of the chromophore but also a plethora of spatial and structural characteristics. This review concerns itself with informing the reader on the capabilities of this technique in obtaining the above-mentioned characteristics.
