Abstract
This thesis aims to make astronomy more accessible, in particular to tactile learners as well as visually impaired and blind people, by providing methods to generate tactile models from astronomical imaging data that can be 3D printed. A complete procedure will be given starting from observational imaging data and ending at 3D printed tactile model. The steps include image processing for both image quality and model quality, choosing model settings and 3D printer settings. An interface has been developed which can be used to process images and generate models easily. To ensure the accessibility of the interface for visually impaired and blind people, it is compatible with screenreaders.
