Abstract

This report explores the commercial viability of bioprinting in the Netherlands by identifying key technical, economic, and regulatory challenges. Through literature review and stakeholder interviews, it finds that issues like low cell viability, costly materials, and time-consuming optimization hinder scalability. While current regulations are not yet restrictive, future tightening is expected, creating uncertainty for companies. Misalignment between customer expectations and technical capabilities also poses market challenges. To move forward, the industry needs more automation, clear regulatory guidance, and stronger collaboration across sectors.
