Abstract
This paper is on Poncelet's closure theorem, specifically in the case that the conic sections have fewer than four intersections. The proof of the theorem is done for the case that the algebraic curve of the Poncelet pairs is rationally parametrisable. The thesis also considers the possibilities for in how many steps the sequence closes mainly for when the functions are over the rationals. Also included are worked examples for the different cases of the amount of intersections fewer than four.
