Abstract
This thesis gives an introduction to Gauge theory, first by considering the Yang-Mills approach, and then by using connections. Then it will explain the origin of the Chern-Simons term, and give an introduction into inflation, more specifically into slow-roll inflation. Finally, it adds the Chern-Simons term to the inflation Lagrangian and examines its effects.
