Abstract
In this paper resultants and discriminants are used to determine whether certain Galois groups in characteristic 2 are contained in the alternating group A_n. This is done by following an explicit procedure to calculate the Berlekamp discriminant, which was detailed by Carmon in 2015 and is clarified in this paper. Two results on the Berlekamp discriminant for polynomials of a specific form are presented to underscore the relevance of this procedure.
