Abstract

This thesis investigates the similarities and differences between gravity, pion theory(symmetric Non Linear Sigma Model) and non symmetric non linear sigma models. The main motivation behind this project is that both the theory of gravity and non linear sigma models are non- renormalizable. Finding connections between those theories may help advance the search for a UV completion of gravity. Inspiration can be drawn, for example, from the pion theory which has a well-understood UV-completion, the theory of Quantum Chromodynamics. The concepts of non-renormalizable theories, Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking, differential geometry and coset spaces are reviewed as background knowledge needed to for following through the thesis. Then the 3 theories are introduced and their soft theorems are compared.Next, the concept of hidden zeroes and its connections with Non linear sigma model and Yang -Mills theory is analyzed and the concept of KLT relations is used in order to bridge these topics with gravity. Finally, it is shown that gravity 3 and 4 point amplitudes inherit the hidden zero loci of Yang-Mills theories. This work concludes that as the hidden zero loci are also observed in the pion theory, hidden connections between this theory and gravity may exist while not enough similarities were found to conclude the same for the non symmetric Non Linear Sigma Models.
