Abstract

The goal of this project was to synthesize a strained cyclooctyne that could be used for PET labeling. During this project strained cyclooctyne 39 was successfully synthesized. Furthermore experiments were done to determine the progress of the reaction in time. These experiments showed that the reaction of compound 39 with p-fluorobenzylazide occurs within 30 minutes, making it fast enough to use for test reactions with 18F. These reactions with 18F gave radio chemical yields between 25 and 44%. This is the first example of Cu-free AAC employed for 18F PET labeling.
