Abstract

For the planning of proton therapy treatment it is important that the stopping power in a tissue can be predicted in an accurate way. The aim of this study is to construct an accurate model that can predict proton stopping powers using effective atom number and effective electron density from dual energy CT. From the stopping powers calculated with the model, proton ranges have been calculated. These ranges have been compared to experimental values.
