Abstract

A transcendental number is a number which is not a root of a non-zero polynomial equation with integer or rational coefficients. This is a particularly interesting field of study as there are many unsolved problems, therefore we aim to understand some of the intricate proofs intrinsical to transcendental number theory. We look at methods involving auxiliary functions and rational approximation, specifically by BBP-type formulas.
