Abstract
Nim is a really old game. It is part of a collection of games called combinatorial games. The game Nim gives rise to the nimbers, which form a rich structure under the right definitions, namely a tower of fields called On_2. In this thesis we will show how the game Nim gives rise to this tower and link the tower to more generally understood notions in algebra.
