Abstract
Ray tracing is a rendering method that is rising in popularity as it offers more realistic views compared to the other popular rendering method, rasterization. Unity is a popular game engine that offers real-time ray tracing functionality. We have looked into the possibilities of combining this functionality with Virtual Ray Tracer (VRT), which is a tool to visualize ray tracing. By implementing real-time ray tracing features in VRT we intend to improve the quality of the tool. A small user survey was conducted to see what the users think of VRT with real-time ray tracing.
