Abstract
In this thesis, we introduce crowds, an algebraic structure closely related to groups, and study a few basic properties and examples. We start out with a little motivation for the structure before giving the definition and working out some properties which necessarily follow. In the second part, we study bands and the Krasner hyperfield. We conclude by studying the special linear group over the Krasner hyperfield as an example of a family of crowds.
