Abstract

The world of energy is changing around us. One of these changes is the increasing component of energy produced in a sustainable way: renewable energy. However, such developments require adaptability of our energy network. Two years ago the Universal Smart Energy Framework (USEF) Foundation was founded to develop a network that provides a fast, fair and low cost route to an integrated smart energy future. The research presented in this colloquium is concerned about integrating the business models of several parties into this framework. While the Balance Responsible Party (BRP) is responsible for minimizing the imbalance between energy supply and demand, Aggregators are aiming at making a profit by combining and selling flexibility that households can offer. A model is proposed which allows the simulation of the interaction between a BRP, several Aggregators and up to approximately 500 households.
