Abstract
This research is performed in an assignment of UMCG (Univerisitair Medisch Centrum Groningen) Centrum of Rehabilitation (CfR), location Beatrixoord Haren. This research focuses on the smarter and more effective organization of children rehabilitation care including the home setting. This research is developed for children with DCD. DCD stands for Developmental Coordination Disorder; this is a disorder in the development of the coordination of movements. Children with DCD get a treatment at CfR for enhancing their fitness. Most of the children lose this fitness, when the treatment is ended. Therefore, CfR wants that these children can keep their fitness with further treatment in their home environment. Hence, the goal of this research is the following: The development of an architecture and a program of requirements for an ICT infrastructure for smart and efficient rehabilitation care for children with DCD into the home setting. For this research is made a distinction between short and medium long periods and consumer ICT products and professional ICT product. The methodology used during this research project is the new product management methodology of Crawford and Di Benedetto. This methodology consists of five phases, only the first three phases are used during this research. The used three phases are the following: Possibilities identification and selection, concept generation and concept/project evaluation. During the first phase, the strategy of UMCG and CFR, and the stakeholders are described, further a product innovation charter, and STEEEPLED framework are made. The second phase consists of the possible short term and long term scenarios, also the use cases and the requirements are defined. Finally, the architecture is developed. During the last phase, the use case and the requirements are evaluated and the short and long term scenarios. From this research, can be concluded that answering the research question appeared to be more complex, than was expected. It was required to develop a high-level architecture with a wider scope than DCD treatments, and a model based approach. Recommendations based on this research are: to start with a pilot if a kind of personal health record works for DCD children. Also, during this pilot, more requirements must become clear, because these are not yet sufficiently clear. It will be important that the child and/or parents have control over their personal data. This will enable them to determine which data they want to share and with whom.
