Abstract

This thesis deals with a network consisting of multiple interconnected dynamical agents, where the agents are considered to be homogeneous linear time-invariant single-input-single-output systems. The relationship between properties of the network, and those of the agents and the interconnection law, is explored. These properties are controllability, observability, stabilizability, and detectability. The state space representation of the network is given in terms of the matrices of the agent dynamics, and those of the interconnection law. The question of finding necessary and sufficient conditions for the case of controllability and observability of the network was studied and answered by S. Hara. The main contribution of this thesis is extending these results to give necessary and sufficient conditions for stabilizability and detectability.
