Abstract
Since the relation between anthropogenic greenhouse gases emissions and climate change was scientifically proven, the focus has been laying on finding and developing alternative ways to produce energy through natural resources such as solar energy and wind energy. This project concentrates itself on producing renewable energy through wind as a natural resource, both on land and at sea in the Province of Groningen. It covers the current and future wind park projects, as well as the agreed energy targets with the Dutch Government, and development in energy consumption in the years to come. Based on the data, comparaisons are been made between targets, energy consumption and projects leading to an energy profile and recommendations are given whether new renewable energy projects should be planned in the Province of Groningen. Finally, a short explanation of subventions and policies concerning the construction as offshore and onshore windparks will be given.
