Abstract
The search for a permanent electric dipole moment requires a state-of-the-art of an interaction zone, where polarized BaF molecules are exposed to parallel an anti-parallel electric and magnetic fields. This thesis presents a steady on magnetic field compensation for an interaction zone. Compensation to a residual was achieved with a low magnetic field (< 2nT) by using set of 3 independent compensation coils and a single layer demagnetized µ metal shell in a 1.6 · 12 ·π 2 cm3 cylinder. Following the application of an external magnetic field on a shielding cylinder, we observed that the magnetization has a relaxation time which dependents on the frequency after externally applied field. With a high magnetic field up to 7.5A/m, the demagnetization in either axial or transverse direction of a cylinder has led to comparable compensation.
