Abstract
The Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) experiment at CERN is investigating the difference between matter and antimatter through the study of particles containing a beauty quark. The LHCb experiment has almost completed the upgrade of its detectors, including the installation of a new silicon pixel detector around the proton-proton collision region. In 2022, this new vertex locator (VELO) detector will be commissioned for data taking. An important aspect of the commissioning activities is the understanding of the electronic noise of the individual pixels and a fine-tuning of the operational settings to equalise the performance of all pixels. There are still a lot of open questions regarding the behaviour of the pixels and how to use this knowledge to get the ultimate performance out of the VELO detector. In this bachelor project the reproducibility of this equalisation processes is going to be put to the test.
