Abstract

In this bachelor project, immunostaining and toxicity analysis of fluorescent nanodiamonds (FNDs) was done on precision-cut mouse liver slices. This, is because FNDs are an upcoming phenomenon in the medical and research field. In order to be able to use them, it is important to know how cells react to FND uptake, and how they behave once they are taken up. The immunostaining process was tried to be optimized, however without success. The toxicity analysis showed that FND uptake was not toxic to mouse liver tissue. More research needs to be done before FNDs can be used in the clinic, but these results bring us a step closer.
