Abstract

To measure the electron Electric Dipole Moment (eEDM) more accurately the NL-eEDM collab- oration aims to use a slow cold molecular beam of barium fluoride (BaF). Next to an existing source used for BaF, a new source is being designed. This source should be able to produce dif- ferent molecules next to BaF, which could have more desirable properties to measure the eEDM. Part of this master project has been spent on improving the current BaF source by adding light shielding and setting up fluorescence imaging. With the experience gained from working with the current source, heat shields have been designed for the new source. These heat shields should allow the source to operate at low(er) temperature, be easy to maintain, and be modular in design.
