Abstract
This thesis is concerned with the mathematical field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), which deals with the development of methods for the simulation of fluid flow. The application of CFD stretches from the flow of air around airplanes, to water past ships, to blood through arteries, to air in the atmosphere and to the sea impacting on dykes or sea walls.
