Abstract
Around 1700, renowned mathematicians started using arctangent identities to find digits of Pi. Their ideas, together with some basic theory on Gaussian integers, lead me to an algorithm to find digits of Pi. After briefly addressing the history on the topic and explaining the basics, I will show that this algorithm gives us identities that converge to Pi very rapidly. It is an example of a very old problem solved with modern methods.
