Abstract
Elliptic curves are a hot topic in algebra nowadays. Much energy has been expended on studying curves containing a point of order 2. Unfortunately, less time has been spent on curves potentially containing points of order 3. In this talk, we seek to remedy this unwarranted neglect. We shall see a formula that may aid us in discovering the rank of E(Q), illustrated by examples.
