Abstract
The protocols that are the foundations of the Internet have inherent privacy issues. Anonymity systems attempt to circumvent these privacy issues in a variety of ways. These systems advertise anonymity as a feature but the majority uses technology that is too simplistic. Tor is an anonymity system that works and continues to be the subject of active research. However, its implementation is unable to resolve all of the resource records (RRs) that the Domain Name System (DNS) protocol supports. Part of this thesis is research on how Tor limits the DNS protocol and the workarounds that attempt to bypass these limitations.
